Issue #91 Culture, Nature and Connection in Borrowdale
Plus creative projects, photos from the woods and a short film to share
Hello there - a short, newsy update from us this week in which we share details of an upcoming event in Borrowdale you can come to, the results of a recent creative project, plus a few photos from the woods, a short film and some biscuit related mayhem.
The Borrowdale Ink Experience – 29th & 30th of March 2025
We will be joining Nature writer Matt Gaw, (author of In All Weathers) and others for a weekend of culture, Nature and connection hosted by Adventurous Ink at Seatoller Farm in one of our favourite valleys in the Lake District, Borrowdale. There will be creative writing workshops, walks, talks, collaborative explorations of the landscape and perhaps most importantly, pizza. We will be there to talk about the joys of Slow Adventure as well as taking part in a panel discussion with invited authors and adventurers.
This sounds like an amazing event for anyone into Nature, creativity and adventure and we’re excited to be a part of it - we’d love to see some of you there!
As an extra bonus for subscribers you can get £50 off by using the code: MISC DISC at checkout. Tickets are available here:

In the Woods

Life and work have kept us out of the mountains the last couple of weeks, but luckily our work for us keeps us connected to Nature even we can’t get out and about at the weekends. I always take my camera to work and this is why - there is so much beauty in Nature’s dark and forgotten places, if you only learn to look for it. Working in the woods on this day got me thinking about my remuneration for my labour. What is my daily rate? I charge fairly for my time, but also get rewarded by the sights and sounds of Nature. I am lucky to get paid twice, both monetarily and spiritually.
The Upgraded Biscuit Agency
Our son Benji (aged 8) has been hard at work on creative projects too. He has asked us to let everyone know that he has just published his first comic and it’s now available to buy on his shop! It’s called The Upgraded Biscuits Agency and it’s totally bonkers, featuring 24 pages of biscuit related madness. He’s learning lots about self publishing and the realities of becoming a commercial artist - if you like comics he would love your support!
Solstice
And lastly, although the winter solstice seems a long time ago now and we are well on the way towards spring, we made this video back in December but I only just got around to making some music to go with it - please join us on a wild and windy solstice hike!
Well, that’s all for now, I hope you don’t mind an occasional news filled edition of The Digest. Hopefully we will be back to tales of slow adventure and encounters with Nature next week…
With thanks as always and warmest wishes,
Andrew, Emma and Benji

That sounds like it's going to be amazing, so wish I didn't already have plans!
I love that you feel the spiritual reward as well as the monitory!
And love the feeling of the film.
Oh and of course just Brilliant Benji! 🙌
