Hello! We are Andrew and Emma. Together we are Miscellaneous Adventures.
Our work leads us down many paths, yet all are linked by the three way-markers of Nature, Creativity and Adventure. We live and work in the mountains, woods and valleys of the Lake District, Cumbria.
We believe in living simply, taking it slow, considering Nature with deep reverence and curiosity, finding joy and adventure in everyday life and encouraging others to do the same.
What do we write about here?
The Miscellaneous Adventures Digest is a weekly roundup of all things Miscellaneous Adventures including: Nature observations, musings on the relationship between Nature and society and tales of our adventures here in the Lake District and further afield with our young son, Benji. These posts are mainly written by me, Andrew and we aim to publish every Friday.
We also share recipes and information on foraging, wild medicine and plant use and these posts are usually written by Emma.
To get a taste of who we are and what we write about, we recommend reading this post about the many strands of our work and lives:
This one about slow adventure and the radical act of going slow:
And also this one, which takes an honest look at what it takes to live creatively and adventurously and the hardships faced along the way:
