"Being out on the water, seeing the landscape from a different angle reminds me that how we travel through life is mostly a matter of perspective". I love this. I've always been a circular route fan when walking, almost obsessively avoiding 'there and back again'. Anyway, on one occasion several years ago, I had a couple of hours so decided to walk up the coast a few miles with my dog and our breakfasts. I'd planned to make it circular, but truthfully, the route back would not have been as nice and was a real trudge. So - even in my circular stubbornness - I grudgingly accepted I would be better to go back the way I'd come. After we'd eaten and I started for home, I looked ahead and suddenly realised that it wasn't the same walk anyway. Simply turning around brought to life a whole new experience, a new perspective as you say. The metaphor wasn't lost on my either. I really enjoyed reading your account - adventures truly come in all shapes and sizes, and this seemed perfect. I hope the knee injury is improving and that November treats you all well. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for this Amy and for sharing this story. Absolutely, it's amazing how different routes can look and feel by walking them in a different direction! Even on circular routes I always try to remember to look behind me occasionally and am often surprised by what a different outlook reveals.
This is such a great adventure! I need to get a canoe of some sort. I've been interested in a large lake not too far from me that has campsites available that can only be accessed by boat.
Ah, that sounds great - there are places like that a bit further north from us in Scotland. We'd love to do a canoe trip up there one day. Our canoe is one of the best things we ever bought, so much fun even on a short paddle like this one...
Sounds like an awesome morning out! Nice!!
Idyllic 💙
