Full day of driving rain yesterday. The hike in the Duke Forest of North Carolina was unique and beautiful in the rain. So much of what I felt walking alone in the glistening Loblolly pine forest has been captured by your prose. Thank you!

I love the feeling, true or not, of being the only person venturing out in bad weather! And there is always something beautiful and/or interesting provided by nature.

Yes, this is a great feeling! We always feel a little smug knowing we’re the only ones out enjoying the conditions. It’s great too knowing that places that are normally busy will be deserted and we can have them to ourselves. Very true - Nature always has something to offer, whatever the weather.

Some of the best light for photography is just before or after a storm! My bigger outings are dependent on time available in my schedule, though, so I just try to embrace whatever weather is thrown my way.

Ah true, the light can be incredible around storms. Absolutely terrible conditions for photography on this little outing - there's something about the gloom I like I just couldn't quite decide how to capture it. Good shout on embracing the weather, here in one of the wettest parts of the UK, if we only went out on sunny days we'd never go anywhere!

For a while I was cursed with cloudless blue skies every time I went out! 😂

What a nightmare! I loathe shooting in bright sun - give me a bit of cloud for drama any day.

All weather can be beautiful depending how you approach life. Although my favorite season is winter, I certainly don't mind the rain in warmer months. Sometimes it feels so cleansing. I especially loved rain when I lived in the Caribbean. There's something about a downpour in the tropics that's soothing to the soul.

On another note, rain is also the most inconvenient type of weather once you're soaked lol. The changing of clothing, the hair disasters, etc 😁

Ha, true, rain can be inconvenient once you're soaked, especially when camping!

Nice to hear from a fellow precipitation appreciator - rain in warm climates is truly something else. I have fond memories of torrential downpours in Japan and Australia; cleansing is the right word. Refreshing too, for earth and spirit.
