Such a privilege to have those close encounters. There’s something mystical in such moments as you look into the eyes of a wild creature close up. I had a very special encounter with a Goldcrest last year that had stunned itself falling out of a tree. Worried that it may be vulnerable to the local bird killing cat I gently picked it up and it seemed content to sit quietly in the palm of my hand while it regained its equilibrium. It looked me up and down a few times and after five minutes or so it shook itself and flitted away into the treetops. Magical.
I love this and I always feel that seeing owl is the most special of encounters. What a gift.
